Shane Green

digi.me / UBDI, CEO (US) / co-founder & Chair

Shane is a pioneer in the movement to empower individuals with their data and to establish online privacy and control of data as a human right. He was co-founder & CEO of the privacy by design platform Personal in 2009, which merged with digi.me in 2017. He serves as CEO (US) at digi.me, and and is focused on helping launch a global app ecosystem that respects individual ownership and control of their data. To that end, Shane is co-founder & chair of UBDI (ubdi.com), which lets individuals participate in the economics of the data they generate.

UBDI is focused first on the $76 billion market research and insights industry, and is launching out of beta at Finovate and MyData the week of September 23. He also helped develop reputation management app TFP (TFPapp.com). Shane serves as Senior Advisor to Future State (futurestate.org), a new research and advocacy organization focused on data empowerment. Shane was previously co-founder & CEO of The Map Network, which became the world’s largest location data platform after being acquired by NAVTEQ. He served as the global head of location data at NAVTEQ and then Nokia after they acquired NAVTEQ.

Shane helped launch the non-profit International Crisis Group, now based in Brussels. He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, was named a Privacy by Design Ambassador, serves on the board of the IT & Innovation Foundation, and previously served as Vice Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Data.
